Day 49

Back-To-Back 4 WIN Days!
As I sat down today around 1 pm and tuned into HRTV for the beginning of the Gulfstream Thursday card I wondered if it was possible to have ANOTHER multiple win day like I'd had yesterday. I also began thinking about that IF I did, how ironic it would be because much like the Wednesday card I thought that today was a fairly moderate collection of races and I'd only had six selections. Also like yesterday I had no bet above the double investment level and even had three that were just the minimum. But once again, the day proved to be extremely profitable and an ultra-successful day of handicapping.  In the second I liked Shining Powers, and much like yesterday when I went against the runner that the national analysts thought would wire the field - handily - I went with the stalker today. And much the second winner yesterday, Arabian Dream, I typically would NEVER pick a horse like this. Shining Powers had a record of 12/1-4-3. But after second four times and third once - the last three all at this one-turn mile - and all of those for double the 2-lifetime price that he was entered for here today, I thought he was the "class" play. He stalked the pace to the stretch and edged clear as the 3/2 favorite.

The big score of the day came in the third.  Much like Arabian Dream yesterday and Shining Powers, here was a horse - a maiden claimer - who had built up an 0-for-12 career resume, but he was my top choice.  I saw hope for a win when considering that she'd been second or third in six of her last seven, including her last four - which were her only turf starts.  She was second off the shelf and today got the services of top rider Javier Castellano.  Red Parasol stalked the leaders in a maiden claimer on the turf and then aired under Javier Castellano. I could not believe he was allowed to leave the post at better than 2/1!

I continued my winning ways in the fifth, a Maiden Special for three-year-olds going seven furlongs.  In his last he was third, over ten lengths behind on the wire, BUT the winner accounted for all of that save the nose that cost Fastidia's Son the second place money.  And that runner has since come back to win.  The catch was that this was for a $25K tag and today Fastidia's Son - first off the claim - was being confidently raised to $50K.  But he did get Javier Castellano, and the fact he signed on was a real plus.  I thought I'd get a fair price, but the crowd saw what I did and he went off as the 4/5 favorite.  Fastidia's Son stalked the pace to the top of the lane and when Castellano said GO he was L-O-N-G gone.

I got my fourth consecutive winner when Eire En Pointe tracked a quick pace in the 7th on the turf facing two-lifetime runners, then blew by the longshot leader under John Velazquez to take command in mid-stretch. But the pace took it's toll and two closers were flying on the outside, PHOTO FINISH! I was pretty certain with the live finish and even more so with the first slow-motion replay that I'd won. Indeed, and at 2/1 again!
